30 August 2016

During the month of August, Reddford House Northcliff and Reddford House The Hills welcomed doting grandparents to interact with their grandchildren and their classmates in our classrooms during the course of a Friday morning.

Reddford House schools deeply value family bonds and the ability family members have to make one another feel special and recognised. We also know that grandparents and grandchildren often share a unique bond, and wanted to offer senior family members the opportunity to engage with the children in their schooling environment. This is a delightful and quite unique opportunity for all concerned.

Grandparents are important to children in many ways. They have patience and time when parents are often busy. They are good for treats and spoiling, which we all need from time to time! Because of this, the ELS children were so excited to have their grandparents visit them at school and to show them around.

The Reddford House Northcliff ELS team reported that after enjoying refreshments, the grannies and grandpas joined their grandchildren in their classrooms. The children performed a song or a poem for their grandparents and then they got to participate in an activity together.

The Reddford House The Hills staff reported of an equally wonderful morning with children's grandparents and special family members filling their corridors on Friday morning. The children absolutely loved spending time with family in their school environment at they made gifts and drank tea together. A particularly moving sight was when grandparents took the time to spend with those children who didn't have anyone to spend the morning with.

The schools wish to sincerely thank all the families who travelled a far distance to spend this special morning with us. Grandparents’ Day is one of the most special events on the Reddford House school calendar.
